Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

● Assists in development and implementation of billing processes.

● Oversees the billing processes for Mercy Ambulance

● Completes ambulance billing process within four days of patient transport.

● Audits, researches and resolves denials of claims.

● Reconciles daily the presence of a medical record for Mercy Ambulance registration.

● Reviews the records for the level of care provided and compared to charge sheet.

● Access, edit and/or enter information in the billing system.

● Forwards patient records to the Department of Medical Records.

● Understands and utilizes a complex, highly sophisticated billing system.

● Establish and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships that include trust, positive feedback, and constructive criticism.

● Plan, organize, and accomplish tasks according to priority to effectively meet department needs.

● Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to interpret data to resolve accounts.

● Maintain knowledge of confidentiality laws and third party liability laws.

● Maintain high level of technical expertise in the execution of all significant duties.

● Acts as a resource and role model.

● Perform other related duties as directed.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

● High school diploma preferred or high school equivalency.

● Background in medical terminology.

● Familiar with computerized patient accounting system.

● Ability to prioritize own work and to accept responsibility for an activity.

● Requires interpersonal skills to demonstrate hospitality and cooperation in interacting with co-workers.

● Work requires calculation of data, use of the computer, calculator and reading.

● Must have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate behaviors consistent with the mission and values of Mercy.
