Manager of Public Safety, Access Control, Emergency Management, Switchboard and Mail Room

GENERAL SUMMARY :

Provides management for the following departments / functions for MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center and MercyOne West Des Moines Medical Center and related MercyOne facilities in the greater Des Moines area: Public Safety, Valet, Switchboard, Access Control / Badge Systems, Mail Room, Fleet Management, Audiovisual and Emergency/Hazmat Services/Facility Safety Compliance. The Manager will be available for special projects at the request of the Director, Facilities Services and other MercyOne Central Iowa leadership council members. The Manager provides direction to the departments toward achievement of MercyOne Key Results.

Coordinates with and provides expertise for other MercyOne Central Iowa facilities to support improved facility operations and achievement of MercyOne Key Results across the Central Iowa region. Provides consultation and support to MercyOne statewide colleagues, as requested; coordinates with statewide colleagues for achievement of MercyOne system vision and strategies. Maintains relationship with CommonSpirit Health leadership in related services to assure compliance with CSH policies and processes.

The Manager must be available to MercyOne at all times for work-related issues and emergencies. The Manager will be required to conduct business outside of normal working hours.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field required.

  • Master’s Degree in related field preferred.

  • FEMA certifications: IS 100, 200, 700 and 800.

  • Three years progressively responsible facility management experience, in related discipline.

  • Valid Driver’s/Chauffeurs License required, must meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.

  • Knowledgeable and competent in hazmat regulations and processes.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.

  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
