WesleyLife Meals on Wheels is a non-profit that impacts food insecurity and social isolation by delivering nearly 2,000 hot, delicious, and healthy meals to older adults and military veterans in Central Iowa. We're looking for someone to manage our volunteer program.

As the Meals on Wheels Volunteer Coordinator , you will:

  • Manage a volunteer program of more than 200 volunteers and 10,000 hours of volunteer service per year. Support essential programs with volunteer stability and growth.

  • Coordinate, place, and manage volunteers for the Community Nutrition program, including Meals on Wheels and Hydroponic Farm volunteers. Use software to manage, track, and report on volunteer efforts. Regularly report on outcomes and needs to the leadership team.

  • Develop and nurture corporate and community partnerships to support the Meals on Wheels program, including regular volunteer partnerships and specialty programs.

  • Support outreach and engagement in the community through connections with local churches, service organizations, and other non-profits that result in a positive brand for WesleyLife Meals on Wheels and more engagement or volunteerism. Regularly attend volunteer recruitment events.

  • Ensure new volunteers have the appropriate paperwork, training, and orientation.

  • Develop and implement an effective volunteer communication program to keep volunteers active and engaged in opportunities to support the organization.

  • Continue stewardship efforts to recognize, thank, and celebrate volunteers. Lead with hospitality and gratitude.

  • Maintain appropriate records required by WesleyLife policies and state/federal guidelines. Use an online volunteer management tool to track volunteer shifts and hours.

  • Deliver meals as needed.

Candidates should have:

  • Valid unrestricted Iowa driver’s license.

  • Current vehicle insurance.

  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.

  • Strong technology skills and the ability to learn new software programs are required.

  • Two years of work experience in volunteer management or program development is highly preferred.

  • A bachelor's degree in Communications, Human Services, Social Work, or a related field is preferred.

Our pay range for this role is $19.50 - $24.46 / hour. The starting pay rate will be based on years of experience. Closely related experience will be required for the upper end of the range.
