JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE

Responsible for development and management of processes and procedures of the Richard Deming Cancer Center. As well as, taking referrals, maintains patient schedule, and daily operations of the 20 plus provider clinic in accordance with internal standards and procedures, and regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coordinates clinic referrals to include gathering all patient records, ensuring all imaging and other required testing is completed and available, and ensure demographics and insurance records are complete prior to the patient’s appointment;

  2. Prepares patient for exam and facilitates patient flow; obtain and record vital signs including but not limited to, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem; may be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis;

  3. Perform patient check-in at the time of visit, interview patients and complete all paperwork necessary to ensure the admitting process is efficient, and all clinic and regulatory policies are in compliance;

  4. Coordinate scheduling with that of the practitioners’ schedules to ensure proper coverage of patient appointments and out-of-office calls, including multiple physicians for each patient;

  6. Assumes responsibility for knowledge of, and adherence to, approved practice standards; assists in identification and accomplishment of clinic goals and programs; responsible for development and maintenance of unit-specific policies and procedures;

  7. Acts to facilitate interdisciplinary communication;

  8. Works with clinic manager and director to facilitate efficient operation of the unit within approved budget parameters;

  9. Ensures all clinic supplies and equipment are operational and fully stocked;

  10. Monitors content and processes of patient care including order processing, scheduling, and documentation, and performs necessary follow-up in a consistent manner;

  11. Assists with clinic marketing as needed;

  12. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

Required Licensure and Certifications Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification,

-Certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) within three (3) months of hire,(acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) and Proof of completion of Adult and Child Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three (3) months of hire.

-Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Ability to manage multiple priorities, detailed oriented Computer skills including experience with Microsoft and Google Ability to work with people, establish priorities, and handle workflow with frequent interruptions Knowledge of regulatory agencies and their standards and processes Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Qualifications Experience in a Cancer Center or Oncology Clinic preferred.
