Job Description

Do you enjoy helping others and want to make a significant impact in what you do? If yes, look no further! Community Based Corrections District 5 is seeking a highly motivated, skilled Psychologist 2.

What You’ll Do

As a Psychologist 2 in this position, you will:

  • Provide professional therapy, assessment, behavior management, and counseling to community corrections clients that experience mental health, substance use, sexual offending concerns.

  • Provide guidance to the district treatment team and supervising officers.

  • Provide clinical evaluations as ordered by the Court or the Iowa Board of Parole.

  • Participate in the clinical guidance of psychology, or related field, students.

The successful candidate for this position will be required to obtain licensure to practice as a mental health professional (e.g., Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Independent Social Worker) within twenty-four (24) months of appointment.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

1) Graduation from an accredited college or university with a doctorate degree in psychology, behavior analysis, or counseling. 2) Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in psychology, behavior analysis, social work, or counseling, and experience equal to two years of full-time clinical work in the provision of counseling and therapy in an institutional or community mental health, intellectual disability, long-term care, or correctional program.

3) Possession of a license to practice psychology from the Iowa Board of Psychology.

4) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes twelve months of full-time work as a Psychologist 1.

Additional Qualification Requirements

Current licensure or ability to obtain a license within two years as a mental health provider in the State of Iowa examples include LMFT, LMHC, LISW or above.
