Position Summary

We are seeking a Safety and Health Coordinator I professional like you to join our amazing Des Moines, IA Manufacturing plant.

Since 1945, the Bridgestone Des Moines plant has produced agricultural, construction, forestry and off-the-road tires. With more than 70 years of history in the community, many of the 1,300 teammates in Des Moines are second- or even third-generation teammates.

As a Safety and Health Coordinator I professional, you will be expected to develop and implement policies and practices to identify/mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace. You will be expected to identify potential workplace hazards, unsafe equipment, work practices, and working conditions. You will Investigate accidents and liaising with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence. You will provide advice and training on safety protocols and conducting audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards related to employee health and safety. You will maintain and analyze records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences to identify areas of concern and provide the information required by regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

In this role, your primary responsibilities will include:

· Work on problems and assists with projects or processes while receiving general instructions from higher-level professionals.

· Continue building knowledge of organization and processes.

· May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies, and practices.

· Conduct Industrial Hygiene sampling.

· Conduct safety trainings.

· Teammate engagement to continually increase safety awareness.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor degree and a minimum of 1 year of related experience.

  • Or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
