Job Title: Seasonal Lab Technician

Job Description

Enter sample data into the eLIMS system in a timely and accurate manner. Perform laboratory testing on all incoming samples efficiently and ensure sample turnaround time goals are met or exceeded. Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Responsibilities

• Homogenize and aseptically split samples into bags

• Enrich samples with media

• Incubate samples using the LIMS system

• Check samples into retain using storage management

• Identify non-conformances and out-of-specification samples

• Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in biology, microbiology, and laboratory techniques

• Experience with aseptic techniques and sterile plating

• Knowledge of quality assurance protocols

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• AAS or BA degree in microbiology, food science, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or a related field

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced lab environment

• Positive personality with strong attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and efficiently

Work Environment

The lab operates Monday to Friday and Wednesday to Sunday, with shift start times between 10 AM and 2 PM. Pay ranges from $17.50 base plus shift differentials. The Microbiology Business Unit conducts various micro testing, including pet food, ingredients, nutraceuticals, and food dyes. The role requires standing for long periods and performing detailed handwork. Lab attire includes long pants, closed-toe shoes, a provided lab coat, and safety glasses. The department fosters a collaborative atmosphere with an 'all hands on deck' attitude.
