Senior Director, Supply Chain Operations

The Global Supply Chain Management Supply Chain Operations Senior Director is responsible for directing activities of Supply Chain Operations function for a business group in accordance with company policies and procedures. Oversees the management of Team Performance (SCAs/Buyers), New Business Strategy, Supplier Performance, Transportation Operations, and Strategic Agreements.

The Supply Chain Operations Senior Director leads a team of procurement representatives consisting of both subcontract administrators and buyers through the acquisition process of materials and services in support of a variety of programs and customers. Ultimately responsible to ensure all subcontract and procurement related actions are executed in accordance with Amentum’s policies and procedures. In addition, the Senior Director monitors team performance through KPIs in an effort to reduce risk, reduce total cost of ownership and improve operational performance related to supply chain life cycle. Other areas of responsibility include new business and capture support, implementation and training of procurement systems, supporting program transition efforts, leading small business and vendor performance management efforts.

The Supply Chain Operations Senior Director acts as liaison with program management, business operations, contracts, legal and finance. Responsible for managing a team, to include mentoring, day-to-day direction, and performance management of assigned employees. Responsible to drive process improvements and seek opportunities for optimizing the procure to pay process. Responsible to ensure the quality and compliance of procurement files for their respective teams meet the GSCM standard.

US citizenship is required. The position is a 100% remote-telework role that may require light travel (domestic/international).

Principal Accountabilities

  • Direct a team of procurement and subcontract professionals supporting a business group.

  • Provide visible and effective leadership to optimize all procurement and supply chain functions within assigned area.

  • Develop and establish standard and integrated policies, procedures, and reporting systems to ensure team is providing effective, cost-efficient and responsive supply, procurement and transportation support.

  • Prepare reports, analyze data and make recommendations for innovation, continuous improvement measures focused on streamlining supply chain operations.

  • Develops and executes long-term strategic plans for supply chain operations enabling initiatives that meet the future needs of the business line and portfolio of programs ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and audit directives.

  • Develop and manage SC goals, objectives for business group.

  • Management of Supplier Performance, global Transportation, and Strategic Agreements efforts and staff through subordinate leaders.

  • Develop and administer data driven business rhythms to measure and report the effectiveness of the team.

  • Influence capture strategy and probability of win (Pwin) with direct Capture support, or input and coordination with GSCM Strategy and Growth teams.

  • Conduct regular meetings with direct reports to manage communication of corporate initiatives and policy changes.

  • Coordinate subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions in coordination with GSCM and Program leadership.

  • Formulates and administers supply chain operations policies and develops long range goals and objectives.

  • Develops benchmarks and scored cards to be used for continuous improvement of SC organization.

  • Monitors external environment and internal trends, practices and utilization to remain current with sourcing and logistics procedures and systems.

  • Provides strong, visible, and effective leadership to supply chain operations organization.

  • Ensures that all subordinate personnel are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the supply chain management program meets or exceeds organizational goals.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of modern principles of efficient supply chain, purchasing/procurement management, materials movement and inventory control.

  • Advanced knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) and procurement requirements

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to develop and execute effective strategies

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to respond to customer and business requests and communicate with a wide variety of levels and positions.

  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders with competing interests.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software

  • Strong demonstrated business acumen and strategic business judgment.

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in an associated discipline. Two (2) years of additional experience in supply chain management, purchasing or subcontracting may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.

  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or related field, with seven (7) years leadership/supervisory experience.

  • Experience in a high volume, global supply chain management environment.

  • Experience in procurement, supply chain optimization, implementation of best industry practices, and change management.

  • Must have prior experience working within USG-approved purchasing system (CPSR) environment.

  • In the future this role may require the ability to obtain/maintain a clearance.

  • US Citizenship is required.

Preferred

  • Professional certification in supply chain, purchasing, or procurement field preferred .
