SHI Sr. Director of Proposals in Des Moines, Iowa
Job Summary
TheSr. Director of Proposals, working with SHI Senior Leadership, oversees a department responsible for responding to customerRFx, content creation and management, and strategic vision for client acquisition and retention. TheSr. Director of Proposals will mentor and guidea team of managers andwill act as a point of escalation for senior leadership.
TheSr. Director of Proposalsreports to the VP of Contract Capture and Strategy. This will be a remote position but may be required to report to SHI headquarters for company meetings and conferences as determined by SHI management.

Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:
Develop, enhance and improve Best Practices for overall strategy on Capture, Proposals and Contract Success
Directly manage and lead a group of Proposal, Content,andOperationsManagers
Collaborate with Senior Leadership on strategies for improving proposal responses and content management
Develop strategic win themes and discriminators to differentiate the company from our competitors
Collaborate with Capture leadership on developing strategic pursuit plans and processes
Collaborate with Content Management leadership on final content approval
Understand and act on overall vision and strategy, delegating appropriately to team managers
Oversee the interviewing and hiring of team members, encouraging diversity of background and experience
Accomplish department objectives by planning and evaluating team functions
Manage staff by hiring, coaching, training, and disciplining employees.
Defines objectives, identifies, and evaluates trends and options, chooses a course of action, and evaluates outcomes
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum 10years’ experience with contract negotiation or proposals
Minimum 7 years in a management role
Experience in a customer facing customer service role
Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, SharePoint)
Required Skills
Effectively work independently while guiding and mentoring team managers
Possesses strong analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Detail oriented with time management and prioritization skills
Ability to multi-task, determining priorities, follow-up and keeping track of objectives on team and individual assignments
Capable of determining priorities, goals and objectives of work functions assigned
Ability to meet SLAs and high-volume activity
Ability to understand internal systems and tools
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to effectively work in a team environment and under general supervision
Ability to work effectively within all levels of an organization, both internally and externally
Strong understanding of contract terms and conditions and negotiation skills
Self-starter with strategic vision and critical thinking skills
Team building and collaboration abilities by unifying teams and setting common goals
Ability to set clear objectives and goals by enabling staff understanding of their own duties and the duties of their peers
Ability to motivate a team by setting a mission then turning it into clear, specific, and measurable incremental goals
Preferred Skills:
- APMP certification, or similar certification
Unique Requirements
- 25% travel required for customer meeting and internal conferences
Additional Information
The estimated annual pay range for this position is $120,000 - $200,000. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
