Robert Half Staff Accountant in Des Moines, Iowa
Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Des Moines, Iowa. This role is key within our dynamic finance team, focusing on various aspects of finance management, account reconciliation, and general ledger functionality. The Staff Accountant will work under the guidance of senior accountants and finance managers to ensure our internal financial processes are accurate and effective.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare financial statements, reports, and records by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information.
• Assist in the formulation of annual budgets and during audits.
• Conduct account research and analyses to provide insight into expenditure trends and potential savings.
• Ensure the maintenance of the general ledger by preparing a trial balance and reconciling entries.
• Perform tasks related to the month/quarter/year end closing processes.
• Accurately prepare and file tax forms.
• Provide support in decision-making processes by providing accurate and timely financial information.
• Ensure compliance with state revenue service by preparing necessary documentation.
• Document and update internal processes and procedures, ensuring proper internal controls.
• Perform other duties and undertake financial projects as assigned. Requirements
Qualifications:
Proven working experience as a Staff Accountant, with at least 2-3 years' accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including preparation of financial statements.
Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Excel.
Extreme detail-oriented and analytical mindset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High level of ethics, integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
CPA or CMA certification will be considered an asset.
