Job Description

Summary:

This position (Community Health Consultant) is responsible for implementing outreach activities for Iowa’s State Family Planning Program (FPP) to increase enrollment of individuals of reproductive age in need of limited insurance coverage for family planning services. Successful candidates will have an understanding of public health insurance and experience in community outreach, policy, reproductive health services, and/or medical billing.

Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for:

  • Conducting outreach activities and developing and printing outreach materials for eligible individuals of reproductive age.

  • Conducting outreach and education to providers eligible to participate in the FPP.

  • Developing a directory of providers who are actively providing FPP covered services.

  • Identifying community-based partner connections to enhance FPP enrollment.

  • Providing training to staff enrolling individuals applying for the FPP.

  • Establishing and maintaining a task force to review data.

  • Collaborating with other programs addressing reproductive health to increase access for individuals of reproductive age.

535 Public Health

6 months’ experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both related to improving, maintaining, and protecting the general condition of health within society, either on a personal, institutional, organizational, or community basis. Experience may be gained from direct provision of health care or from other ancillary programs and support mechanisms such as government public health departments.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in nursing, a human services or health-oriented field, or education, or nutrition and three years of professional experience in these areas;

OR

Masters degree in nursing, public health or science, a human services or health-oriented field, or education, may be substituted for one year of the required experience;

OR

certification as a paramedic and the equivalent of three years of full-time experience as a paramedic;

OR

an equivalent or combination of the required education and experience, totaling seven years, will be qualifying.
