Description:

Shift Hours: PRN/Varied

  • Performs US procedures under the direct supervision of a registered technologist until competency has been observed and documented. Once deemed competent in each procedure, may perform under indirect supervision. Operates US equipment.

  • Provides care to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients - Provides basic patient care activities such as: genitourinary assistance, assists patients on and off tables, transportation of patients to and from US and removal of IV upon direction from technologist

  • Provides patient/family or caregiver education and counseling in recognition and solution of physical, emotional, and environmental health problems.

  • Maintains open and positive communication with staff, physicians, and other departments. - Presents a positive image to community and professional contacts.

  • Promotes professionalism with the department, hospital, and community; acts as a role model.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in performing exams as training progresses. Maintains the physical environment of the department in a clean, well-stocked, orderly manner.

  • Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner, reporting any malfunctions to team leader/manager/Bio-med.

  • Manages and coordinates the activities of the US Department with other areas of the department and hospital to insure and maintain patient care.

  • Demonstrates proper phone etiquette and utilization of computers, including completion of exam data entry.

  • Attends hospital and department meetings and in-services. - Complies with OSHA/JCAHO and other regulatory agency recommendations and guidelines.

  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all patient/personnel information.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or completion of two-year Ultrasound Technology program.

  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire

  • Maintains BCLS qualification
