Job Information
TEKsystems Technician in Des Moines, Iowa
One of the top 10 healthcare systems in the US has implemented a common EHR platform, powered by Epic, across all 80-plus hospitals nationwide to improve patient care and efficiency.
The next wave (Wave 11 / MercyOne) of their End User Device readiness and transition to Epic EHR software (TogetherCare) will start in April 2024. This transition includes four distinct readiness phases and a final Go Live phase in June 2025. Technicians will stay onboard throughout all phases, gaining 14 months of EMR implementation experience in a healthcare setting.
Phases:
Inventory & Assessment: Document all hardware and peripherals to assess and remediate the environment for Epic Go-Live. Technicians will find and document devices in the inventory system, provide daily reports to project leads, and work in both hospitals and ambulatory sites. Schedules will be less structured towards the end of this phase as undiscovered devices become harder to identify.
Deployment: Install and deploy newly acquired hardware and peripherals in preparation for Technical Dress Rehearsal (TDR) and Epic Go Live. Activities are coordinated by team leads, and technicians will image, deploy, and install devices, unbox equipment, and dispose of packaging materials. Daily reports will be provided to team leads.
Technical Dress Rehearsal: Ensure all devices are capable of Epic-required workflows and test all documented functions. Technicians will test each device according to scripts, marking items that fail to ensure adjustments can be made before Go-Live.
Go Live Support: Provide last-minute deployment, testing, configuration, and support for sites and devices prior to Epic software cutover and production usage. This phase includes pre and post Go-Live support, with technicians working in a 24x7 model to address any issues that arise.
Candidates should have basic computer understanding and troubleshooting skills, as well as customer service skills, as they will interact with IT staff, doctors, nurses, and patients. This project may require travel between sites, with travel reimbursement following TEKsystems GS travel policy.
