POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for all functions relating to the cash and adjustment postings to the Accounts Receivable. This includes following all established protocols to protect the integrity of the Accounts Receivable and provide an established audit trail. Responsible for the entry of cash receipts and adjustments in an accurate and timely manner as well as working and resolving the items listed on the Unapplied Cash Report. Responds to cash/adjustment posting inquiries/issues and performs required research in a timely, professional manner.

What you will do:

  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.

  • Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.

  • Performs all related cash and adjustment posting tasks utilizing the appropriate policies, guidelines and standards.

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory bodies such as CMS, The Joint Commission and others.

  • Ensures that the postings (cash or adjustments) are entered accurately (to the correct invoice).

  • Keys the designated amounts, per the information contained on the remittance advices, to the correct insurance carrier after payment from the primary payer has been received.

  • Keys denial information into the Claims Tracking feature in MestaMed and notifies management of any identified “global problem” pertaining to denials and/or contractual issues.

  • Balances cash/adjustment batches prior to posting the entries to MestaMed and resolves any batches that are not in balance before posting cash/adjustment entries to the MestaMed Accounts Receivable.

  • Researches and responds to questions/concerns from staff and/or third party payers regarding issues concerning cash/adjustment postings.

  • Copies and routes remittance advises to the designated Reimbursement Specialist for denial resolution/submission to the secondary insurance carrier.

  • Works the Unapplied Cash Report for cash receipts not applied to a specific invoice, which includes performing the necessary follow-up required to resolve the unapplied cash receipts.

  • Assists Mercy Home Care Management to meet targeted operational benchmarks and quality indicators. Participates in orienting, educating, and mentoring staff.

What we are looking for:

  • High school or equivalent graduate.

  • Prefer 1-2 years experience in cash posting, accounting or accounts receivable work. Prefer background in homecare or other related medical/health field.

  • Prefer background/experience in medical equipment cash posting and some knowledge of reimbursement/coverage and regulatory standards.

  • Accounting knowledge preferred.
