Job Description

Only applicants who meet the Minimum Qualification Requirements and meet all selective requirements (listed below) will be placed on the eligible list.

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join the team at the Glenwood Resource Center, which offers a continuum of care to Iowans experiencing intellectual disabilities. This is a full-time opportunity featuring a Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. schedule with evening and weekend shifts as assigned.

The Glenwood Resource Center (GRC) will be closing as a state operated specialty care facility on June 30, 2024. This position will end at that time. Applicants are encouraged to apply to gain experience in the areas of working for state operated specialty care.

This position provides psychological care and services to individuals supported by GRC. It requires knowledge of human behavior and performance in various contexts, mental processes, and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders. A primary responsibility of the BCBA is writing, presenting, and assessing effective Behavior Support Plans (BSP), as well as providing competency-based training for staff on the BSPs and other topics as necessary. This includes synthesizing information from numerous sources, observing individuals, interpreting behavioral data, conducting functional assessments, and incorporating psychiatric, medical, and health-related issues into the analysis.

The BCBA functions within an interdisciplinary team and regularly consults with other team members to assess issues and functions of behavior, gives input for ongoing coordination and planning, and provides information regarding psychological issues to team members as needed. Along with attending various committee meetings and professional development opportunities, this position participates in psychiatric consultations, medication reviews, and provides individual counseling and mentoring.

GRC provides residential services for individuals who have struggled to be successful in the community, gives in-home support for those who transition to the community, and assists community-based providers by providing assessments, training, and other technical support. The goal of all GRC services is to help individuals be successful in their communities.

If you enjoy working as part of an interdisciplinary team, helping to develop person-centered Individual Support Plans, while helping individuals stabilize and return to their community of preference then this is a wonderful opportunity to consider.
