PRIES ENTERPRISES INC PLC Technician in INDEPENDENCE, Iowa

[[Safely setup, troubleshoot, and modify extrusion production PLC automation equipment, specifically Allen Bradley software. Assist and lead design upgrades to current equipment to support production goals and efficiencies. Communicate both written and verbally on equipment needs, assessments and changes for other operators and technicians. Specific job duties: Troubleshoot electrical devices in operation; Dismantle and examine devices to gain access to and remove defective parts; Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, repair or replace defective parts; [[A[[ssist operating and maintenance departments in selecting and standardizing equipment, software, device upgrades, drivers and interfaces to improve equipment operation and control system reliability; Research supplies, parts, and machines needed to complete work orders; Work with maintenance technicians to troubleshoot instrument and PLC problems; Provide written documentation of changes to control systems engineers and notifications to all maintenance employees when significant changes are made to control systems so that troubleshooters on all shifts are aware of recent changes; Work with engineering personnel in determining routine changes to programming on the PLCs and HMIs; Ability to calibrate temperature probes, pressure sensors, pyrometers, etc.; Provide written documentation of changes to control systems engineers and notifications to all maintenance employees when significant changes are made to control systems so that troubleshooters on all shifts are aware of recent changes; Support projects involving PLCs by overseeing contractors and / or writing the PLC and HMI programming themselves; Ability to read and troubleshoot from schematics; Comply with and enforce all safety policies, practices, and procedures within the department; Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Safety Department, as well as assess immediate corrective actions; Maintain consistent and reliable attendance; Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 24 months experience in troubleshooting, interpreting, modifying and programming PLC's specifically the Allen Bradley system required. Additional requirements: Demonstrated knowledge of industrial motor, hydraulic, pneumatic and production equipment. Demonstrated ability to maintain PLC systems by ensuring backups of all programs are available and spare parts are available for the existing systems. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Demonstrated ability to read and write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to management, other employees, suppliers, and customers.
