Senior Maintenance Worker - Wastewater Collection Wastewater Division Public Works Department

One permanent full-time position available Full salary range: $66,976.00 - $84,968.00 (starting wage contingent upon experience) Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm, on call every 7 weeks

Job Summary Under direction, serves as group leader to assigned work crews and participates in the maintenance and repair of sewer collection system.

Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other Bachelors degree from an accredited educational institution; or four years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in wastewater and sewer collection system maintenance. State of Iowa DNR Grade III Wastewater Operator certificate. Confined space entry training. Forklift certification required within two years of appointment. Satisfactory driving record. Valid State of Iowa commercial drivers license instruction permit upon first day in position. Valid State of Iowa Class A commercial drivers license with air brake and tank endorsements within 6 months of hire. National Incident Management System Training ICS 100, IS 700 within two years of hire. Meet federal drug testing requirements. Requires a pre-employment drug screen. Must be 18 years of age. Must pass criminal background check. Must live within 25 miles of the corporate limits of Iowa City, Iowa within one year of appointment to the position.

Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other Bachelors degree from an accredited educational institution and one year of related experience; or five years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. State of Iowa DNR Grade IV Wastewater Operator certificate. Competent person training in shoring and trenching. Association of Boards of Certification Wastewater Collection certificate.
