Position Summary

American Athletic, Inc is a major sports equipment manufacturing company located in Jefferson, Iowa. We are owned by Spalding; a division of Fruit of the Loom, an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., & leading international basic apparel company.

We currently have an opening for a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant is responsible for completing month and year-end close, account and balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting and analysis, weekly payroll for plant employees, and ad hoc projects for the facility. This position ensures the timeliness and accuracy of accounting records with minimal assistance, including maintenance of key general ledger accounts and actual vs budget analysis.

AAI is the official equipment supplier to USA Gymnastics®, NCAA® Gymnastics Championships, the YMCA® National Championships, the Nadia Comaneci International Invitational, and the Bart Connor Invitational. AAI is also an official supporter of the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame. Spalding has been the official backboard of the NCAA Final Four Championships since 2009 and is one of the most well-known brands in the industry.

Our Jefferson, Iowa facility has been in operation and supporting our local community since 1954.

The Senior Accountant will be located on-site in Jefferson, Iowa.

Specific Responsibilities

Complete month and year-end close. Perform routine accounting activities; prepare and record financial entries. Identify and resolve discrepancies. Create and issue monthly operating and financial reports.

Complete monthly account reconciliations. Communicate variances or concerns to appropriate leadership.

Generate and review reports for daily business transactions including cash, A\P, bookings, and backlog listing.

Process weekly payroll and submit data to Corporate for payment.

Roll product costs in ERP system for new products based on bills of material and routings. Maintain cost information on existing products.

Apply cash for accounts receivable. Reconcile cash transactions and accounts receivable accounts. Work with customers and credit department to resolve account reconciliation issues as needed.

Manage petty cash and p-card purchases/payments; code and reconcile of purchase transactions.

Complete ad hoc requests and special projects. Assist with budget preparation. Assist other internal/external team members as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, a related field or a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent to a bachelor’s degree

• Experience with ERP systems.

• Advanced MS Office skills required.

• Effective communication internally and externally

• Excellent organizational skills

• Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.

Minimum Job Experience Required

• 3 to 5 years of accounting experience
