Accounting Associate

What is the Role?

As the Accounting Associate, you are an integral part of our Administrative Services Team and your passion for accounting and finance is a core component of our organizational success and significantly contributes to our important mission.

Your role will vary from the strategic - such as assisting with high-level budgets, forecasts and reports - through the tactical - such as payroll processing, A/P, A/R and cost allocation.

Under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Finance, you will be responsible for supporting all of the day-to-day operations and accounting-related functions of the Finance Department to continually ensure IHC's financial integrity, including:

  • Assisting with the planning, management, implementation, maintenance, and administration of IHC's complex financial programs, including federal contract, grants and private or public funds and
  • Supporting the day-to-day fiscal and accounting activities, including A/R, A/P, payroll, journal entries, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, grant accounting, cost allocation, reporting, and all other accounting or finance-related functions

This position is 100% remote

Who Are You?

  • You are a committed, skilled professional with a strong passion for accounting and finance
  • You have an Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting/bookkeeping or a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in accounting/bookkeeping - a Bachelor's degree and/or 7+ years of experience are even better!
  • You are proficient in relevant business and accounting software, including Sage and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • You have a basic understanding of grant management and accounting principles
  • You bring a high level of accuracy and a precise attention to detail to your work
  • You are incredibly organized, with exceptional time management and interpersonal skills, a strong sense of integrity, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • You are a positive, friendly and authentic contributor, you have a strong ability to build relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders, and you work effectively both independently and in a team environment
