Join our team at Delta Dental of Iowa as aCommunity Impact Coordinator.You will work closely with our Foundation Board, staff, community and non-profit organizations, and other stakeholders to creatively implement planning, development, and support to communities engaging in oral health and oral and overall health integration. You will develop partnerships and programs that create awareness, provide outreach and education on oral health, and oral and overall health integrations; and provide tools and funding to grantees/stakeholders that help their support strengthening and transforming the health of Iowans. You will seek to cultivate collaborative relationships with diverse groups, while sharing knowledge, capacity, and experiences that broaden those of the Foundation Board and team.

Essential Functions and Principal Accountabilities:Foundation Activities (85%)
Work with Foundation team on annual basis to develop a plan, timetable and budget for Oral Health Fund and other key projects/activities for the Foundation.
Implement and adapt strategies to building relationships and engage with diverse communities across the state, focusing specifically on oral health, and oral and overall health integration.
Collaborate with key stakeholders on planning activities related to the Foundation’s strategic goals, specifically related to the Oral Health Fund.
Work closely with communities, partner organizations, applicants, and grantees in a successful manner to navigate complex systems and structures and recognize the power differential that may exist between organizations, including between a foundation and its collaborators, applicants, and grantees.
Counsel grant partners on project requests and general information inquiries.
Assist in the coordination and oversight of the Oral Health Fund proposals and review with committee and Community Impact Analyst. This includes assisting with all application processes, technical assistance to applicants, site visits, written reports, evaluations, and grant follow-up.
Assist Foundation team with other key strategies/activities on an ongoing basis.
Build relationships with individuals and organizations to facilitate responses to community-based needs.
Participate in public meetings and events to develop and maintain organizational visibility and accessibility for grantees and potential grant-seekers.
Maintain excellent record keeping for the Foundation.
Community Relations (15%)
Oversee and support employee led fundraising committees (United Way) and activities.
Support community engagement, program design, implementation, monitoring, and improvement projects that align with the Foundation’s Beyond 2020 mission.
Support DDIA’s community relations activities as requested.
Support the Marketing team, Community Impact Analyst, or other key subject matter experts to identify and prepare white papers, advisories, reports, social media content and new releases related specifically to DDIA activities and/or the Community Impact program, or the general oral health of Iowans.
Be engaged and support the Public Affairs team as needed on community relations projects for DDIA.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or Health Professional related degree in public health, health, nursing, medicine, oral health, business administration or a related field of interest required.
Prior community organizing, collaborative leadership, and/or other forms of stakeholder building experience (small- and/or large-scale) preferred.
Three to five years’ experience in a combination of nonprofit / public health position and/or health related preferred.
Grant or Project writing, interviewing, investigative and/or evaluation experience preferred. Experience with and commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.
Knowledge of community development issues, and experience working in diverse communities including multiple generations (seniors, youth, working adults), as well as with communities from various race, ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Basic knowledge of Iowa’s human service and public health agencies.
Time management skills and flexibility to perform well under time pressure and with shifting priorities.
Strong verbal and written communications, social networking, project management and presentation and organizational skills.
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, to include evenings and weekends, in order to meet the needs of community residents and be present at community functions.
High energy, initiative, and creativity are desired.
Travel up to 30-40% required.
