Delta Dental of Iowa is looking for aTechnical Business Analyst IIto provide hands-on production support through both automated and manual processes, while efficiently managing escalations and triaging. You will ensure the business runs smoothly while supporting innovation. This is an opportunity to collaborate on the planning and development of key business systems and projects that are critical to operations. By gathering and analyzing requirements, you will shape solutions that enhance our organizational functions and business processes. Serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams. You will lead and document dynamic business requirement discussions, ensuring IT teams and project participants have the insights they need to succeed. Use your collaboration skills to contribute to the successful execution of company-wide strategies. Help streamline processes, develop efficient workflows, and guide tooling decisions that drive performance. Leverage advanced system and data analytical tools to support both business and technical teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Essential Functions and Principal Accountabilities:

  • Under general supervision, support multiple projects and systems via troubleshooting and basic data analysis.

  • Perform extensive testing and quality assurance support for existing and newly developed systems.

  • Proactively monitor production system and processes for possible issues.

  • Identify and escalate issues according to escalation processes.

  • Manage and track the status of issues using workflow and ticketing systems.

  • Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Gather, compile and document user requirements.

  • Serve as a liaison between systems development and business users to ensure technical compatibility and satisfaction of major application systems.

  • Effectively communicate with leaders, project sponsors, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Plan, schedule and track project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.

  • Provide on-call support when necessary to support business objectives.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required:

  • Associate’s degree in business, management, information systems, or related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Ability to build relationships and influence people across organizational and functional lines.

  • Ability to bridge business and technical concepts, translating complex ideas into clear, actionable documentation that aligns with both business goals and technical requirements.

  • Experience in requirements development for business or technical projects, with knowledge of requirements analysis, and process improvement methodologies.

  • 2-3 years of experience developing requirements for custom software applications.

  • 2-3 years of experience testing custom software applications.

  • Demonstrate strong analytical thinking by breaking down complex problems into smaller, manageable components to gain a deeper understanding and develop effective, scalable solutions.

  • Adopt a problem-oriented mindset, viewing challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. Approach obstacles with curiosity and a solution-focused attitude, actively seeking and embracing innovative ways to overcome them.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, information systems, or related field.

  • Experience with data structures, data models and data querying methods such as SQL.

  • Experience in Agile, writing user stories, and maintaining product backlogs or other equivalent software development methodologies.

  • Experience with business analysis tools such as Jira, Confluence, Excel, Visio.

  • Experience in project coordination and requirements gathering.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve business objectives of multiple complex projects or priorities.

  • Insurance industry experience.
