Qualifications:

  • BA in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology or Social Work Preferred
  • Knowledge of Juvenile Court law, procedures and processes.
  • Knowledge of School District procedures and processes related to discipline and truancy
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.
  • Ability to communicate with all stakeholders: Students, Parents, School Staff and Law Enforcement Personnel.
  • Ability to express ideas orally and in writing.
  • A thorough understanding of the unique needs of at-risk students.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for implementation of Juvenile court disposition orders and Informal Adjustments referred for supervision. Provide monthly reports to the Juvenile Court Services on individual progress.
  • Coordinates services provided by various agencies to assigned juveniles and their families.
  • Make home and community visits as needed to ensure compliance with school and probation programs.
  • Provides direct supervision sufficient to maintain appropriate school behavior. This may include 1-1 supervision in classrooms, hallways, lunchroom, detention room and school grounds.
  • Consults/Coordinates with school officials regarding student progress - behavior and academically.
  • Provides delinquency prevention information regarding juvenile crime and consequences to students.
  • Receives referrals from school officials regarding students with attendance problems. Investigates attendance referrals, including parent contacts and home visits when necessary. May include transporting students to/from the school as needed to ensure attendance.
  • Provides short-term and on-going counseling services to students, small groups and families whose children are experiencing attendance and/or behavioral problems.
  • Other duties as assigned which may include special programming during the summer months.

Compensation: This position will match the teachers schedule of 187 days + 10 additional days at the beginning or end of the school year.
