Description:

This position accepts the responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care with the multidisciplinary team while using the nursing process and maintaining professional nursing standards.

Hours: 7am - 7:30pm or 7pm - 7:30am, every 3rd weekend and every other holiday

Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Registered Nurse in our Medical Unit.

As an RN at MercyOne, you will accept the responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care with the multidisciplinary team while using the nursing process and maintaining professional nursing standards.

  • Assesses and evaluates the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs and documents patient/family responses to nursing interventions while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient care outcomes.

  • Develops and implements patient’s plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on standards of nursing practice, health center policy, and patient/family needs using clinical/critical thinking skills. Reviews and updates the plan of care based on changes in patient’s condition.

  • Guides and directs patient care activities for the above-indicated population, by utilizing clinical/critical thinking skills and evidence-based practice. (Problem Solving, Problem Identification)

  • Provides daily direction and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurse and Nurse Assistant.

Schedule:

  • Weekend Package- Work 24 hrs- Paid for 36 hrs.

  • Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday

General Requirements:

Education:

  1. Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa or qualified multi-state license required

  2. Associate Degree in Nursing or graduate from an accredited RN program required.

  3. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

Experience:

  1. Previous experience in acute care preferred.

Special Skills and Competencies:

  1. Preferred professional certification in related clinical specialty (from the Magnet approved certifications).

  2. Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and flexibility to meet department needs.

  3. Self-motivated, detail oriented individual able to work with minimum supervision.

  4. Completes the following mandatory courses (check all that apply):

*Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.

*Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years.
