K-12 Music Teacher
Position Title: K-12 Music Teacher (K-5 general music; 6-12 vocal music)
Reports To: Building Principal
Calendar: Position Type: 185 Days Certified Staff
SUMMARY: K-5 general music instruction, as well as 6-12 vocal music instruction. The K-12 music teacher is responsible for fulfilling the mission of Montezuma Community School District (MCSD) by developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction, within established curriculum guidelines, to promote intellectual, social, and physical growth in the subject matter that will contribute to student development and achievement. This position oversees implementation of content area curriculum, participates in professional learning communities, and practices research-based assessment strategies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential duties must be performed on-site. Other duties may be assigned.
- Deliver music education instruction to students in K through 12th grades.
- Coordinates and prepares students for concerts multiple times a year, taking place in evening hours.
- Work together with other staff members to conduct music concerts.
- Serves as the activity sponsor for various high school choirs and their events.
- Recruits middle and high school students for choir groups and motivates students to successfully participate in choir activities.
- Facilitates small ensemble and individual voice lessons.
- Completes state contest registration and participation for students and may be required to host these contests.
- Demonstrates ability to enhance academic performance, support for, and implementation of MCSD student achievement goals.
- Aligns instruction to standards, as well as MCSD curricular expectations
- Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
- Demonstrates effective classroom management strategies to show respect for and engage all learners
- Engages in professional development with colleagues
