The 7th Judicial District’s Muscatine Clerk’s Office has an immediate opening for a Judicial Specialist 2. We offer competitive pay, great benefits, and excellent hours. This is a full-time 40 hour per week position. The office is open Monday through Friday, no night or weekend work.

The starting salary for new State employees is expected to be at the base of the pay range. The starting pay for this position is $18.59 hourly / $1,487.20 bi-weekly. Adjustments may be made if the successful applicant has relevant experience.

Location: Muscatine County, Muscatine, IA

Hours:Monday – Friday 8:00A – 4:30P

Under the supervision of the Clerk of Court, major duties include:

  • Providing excellent customer service to court users over the phone and at the public counter

  • Communicating with court users in a professional, courteous and respectful manner

  • Processing electronically filed court documents

  • Conducting financial transactions

  • Coordinate, communicate and collaborate on work with team members to ensure efficient and accurate case processing of court documents and financial transactions

  • Occasional travel to neighboring counties as needed.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high school (or High School Equivalency) and two (2) years of successful completion of accredited post high school education in business, paralegal, computer, legal assistant or related program. Two (2) years of professional office experience in business, court or legal work or a related area with one (1) year of the experience involving customer service. At the discretion of the appointing authority additional years of experience may be substituted for the required post high school education.

Or, the successful completion of additional years of education (i.e., Bachelor’s Degree) may be substituted for years of experience on the basis that successful completion of thirty (30) semester hours or academic equivalent equals one year of experience. Education cannot be substituted for customer service experience.
