Hours: PRN; As needed.

About The Job:

Coordinate employee wellness activities, health promotion activities, youth fitness programs, adult athletic enhancement classes, community wellness programs and wellness seminars and screenings. Coordinate direct client service, including but not limited to personal training, fitness equipment orientation and setting up fitness prescriptions. Provide sports-medicine coverage to assigned area schools in cooperation with the physicians, coaching staff, school administration, and the athlete’s primary care provider.

What we are looking for:

Education [formal]:

  • A bachelor's degree is required with a or master's degree preferred in a program of study in exercise, occupational therapy, gerontology, health education, health and wellness, exercise science or sports management.

  • Certified as an Athletic Trainer.

  • Maintains license by the state of Iowa as an ATC.

Experience:

  • Experience in the field of exercise, physical therapy or rehabilitation.

  • Experience working with clients and developing wellness programs such as physical fitness plans or rehabilitation programs.

  • Demonstrated competence in Orthopedics, Sports Rehabilitation, or with disability systems is desired.

Special Skills and Competencies:

  • Have good verbal & written communication skills to explain procedures, prepare reports and wellness programs for clients.

  • Obtain within one year of hire & maintain COHC (Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist) credential within 6 months of hire.

  • Ability to inspire and motivate clients to implement fitness and wellness program.

  • Ability to work overtime and evening hours.

  • Ability to work outdoors; subject to temperature variations.

  • Ability to interact with other departmental staff, physicians, coaches, athletes, parents, and other referral sources in an effective, professional manner.

  • Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.

  • Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 3 years.
