Description:

Provides secretarial and clerical services which facilitate smooth unit operation and patient care. Functions under direct supervision of Director Nursing Unit.

• Initiates and assembles the medical record for patients on the assigned unit.

• Assists nursing staff with maintenance of medical record.

• Transcribes physician orders in an accurate/timely manner.

• Double checks Physician orders throughout the shift and at the end of the shift.

• Maintains / updates patient computer profile and care area.

• Posts results of diagnostic studies on medical record.

• Reports abnormal results to patient’s primary nurse as results are received.

• Maintains patient confidentiality.

• Facilitates patient discharge or transfer and disbursement of the medical record.

• Facilitates monitoring and ordering of paper supplies and chart packets.

• Demonstrates commitment to customer service.

• Demonstrates appropriate communication skills: i.e. telephone, computer, nurse-com, fax

• Orders and maintains and adequate number of supplies and charge items
