Description:

Manages and oversees patient care activities in the Emergency Room. Develops and oversees performance improvement goals and plans. Provides leadership and mentoring to staff, promoting ongoing staff development and high-quality nursing care which meets or exceeds customer expectations. Provides management of operational activities. Develops unit budgets and evaluates costs, revenue, and department income. Develops and reviews unit staffing plans. Consults with staff, physicians, and administration to ensure patients' needs are met.

QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrates high level knowledge of patient care needs in assigned areas as well as administrative/leadership ability. Ability to network and problem solve with inter-disciplinary team essential. Must meet all the requirements of Emergency Room Staff Nurse positions. Completion of BLS, NRP, ENPC, ACLS, TNCC and PALS strongly encouraged. Maintenance of CEN or CCRN strongly encouraged.

EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited school of nursing with B.S.N. or MSN preferred. Basic computer knowledge.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years experience in combined Emergency and Critical Care Nursing preferred. Minimum 2 years managerial experience or demonstrated competence preferred.

LICENSURE: Currently licensed as registered nurse in the state of Iowa.
