PEKIN COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT Transportation Director in Packwood, Iowa

The Pekin Community School District is looking for a qualified Transportation Director with a tentative start date September 9, 2024. This position is full-time with benefits.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

The Transportation Director provides supervision and oversight of all transportation personnel while effectively managing the Transportation program for Pekin CSD. This individual must comply with all Pekin Policies and Procedures while cooperating with staff and patrons to promote the educational values of the School Districts.

The Transportation Director works with the Superintendent, Central Office Personnel, Head of Maintenance and Grounds Departments to effectively manage day-to-day business operations. This individual will facilitate communications and the purchasing/ordering/invoicing of supplies for the Transportation Department.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent..Post-secondary hours in a related field desirable/not required.
  • CDL (Commercial Drivers License) with proper endorsements required in the State of Iowa
  • Good Driving Record/Able to pass DOT Physical
  • Strong organizational and people skills including the knowledge of routing and scheduling for the purpose of transporting students to and from school and on activity trips.
  • Organization and office management skills needed to effectively manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Computer skills adequate to utilize technology relevant to the position.
  • Possess such alternatives to the above qualifications as the immediate supervisor finds appropriate.
  • Have skills to complete preventative maintenance and minor repairs on vehicles.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and performs critical functions related to Transportation, Maintenance and Operations to meet all the requirements of the daily instructional program and extracurricular activities.
  • Demonstrates dependability and good work habits while following contractual requirements, district policies, and procedures
  • Participates in Board and Administrative Team meetings and activities upon request of the superintendent.
  • Relates positively to students, staff and the general public while maintaining a service orientation and treating all students, parents, staff and visitors with professional courtesy.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

260-Day Contract.
