Kent Nutrition Group (KNG), a member of the KENT Corporation family of companies, has an opening for a Maintenance Technician at the Sheldon, Iowa plant. This position will be directly responsible for maintaining and servicing all plant equipment and buildings.

This is a first shift opportunity. Will include some on-call responsibilities.

PRIMARY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor factors that may influence the quality and safety of the finished feed and ingredients
  • Develop a maintenance plan timeline which includes all facility equipment, instructions and tasks to be performed
  • Establish and conduct regularly scheduled inspections of all equipment items, in accordance to the maintenance plan, noting condition
  • Ensure proper building and housekeeping maintenance for the safety of employees
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical problems in the plant
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of work performed and manpower time distribution
  • Be proactive in the mechanical/technical needs of equipment maintenance
  • Maintain Equipment Data Sheet file on each item of plant equipment, labor and parts cost file as well as maintain and improve tag system on all spare parts
  • Ensure adequate supply of food grade lubricants, equipment parts and tools in stock
  • Organize and maintain operators manuals file and parts list for all equipment in the facility
  • Practice and enforce good safety procedures in all work performed
  • Follow and enforce plant policies, rules, and guidelines
  • Oversee and ensure all tasks are completed and documented properly by the operators
  • Communicate operation condition and efficiency of all equipment to Plant Manager
  • Other tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Adequate formal training or past working experience as a millwright and/or welder
  • Strong knowledge of feed mill operations
  • Extensive working knowledge of shop, power and hand tools and maintenance equipment
  • Ability to recognize and trouble shoot electrical problems throughout the facility
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Good communication, verbal, written and math skills
  • Reliable, self-motivated require minimal supervision and strives for continuous improvement
  • Work and cooperate with all fellow employees
  • Ability to perform all work in compliance with OSHA standards and safety requirements
  • Thorough understanding of cGMPs
  • Knowledge of HACCP Feed and Food Safety Plan and FSMA
  • Ability to work in dust and adverse weather conditions and temperatures
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 55lbs from floor to working height as job requires
