TITLE:Technology Assistant

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Technology

JOB SUMMARY: This full-time,12-month position, will provide end-user technical support for teachers and students working in a mixed Macintosh, Windows, and Chrome OS environment. The position will also help to assist other technology department staff with ongoing support projects.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • A four-year degree in Information Technology, Computing Studies or a related discipline OR
  • An associate degree or a diploma/certificate in Information Technology, Computing Studies or a related discipline and two years of experience in IT/helpdesk services OR
  • At least three years of experience in an IT service or related position.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • General knowledge of computers and related technologies.
  • General knowledge of Macintosh and Windows software and operating systems.
  • General knowledge of Chrome OS.
  • Ability to assist teachers, support, and administrative staff in the use of hardware and software.
  • General oral and written communication skills with people of varying technical knowledge.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • General understanding of wired and wireless computer networking.
  • Working knowledge of laser jet and inkjet printers.
  • Ability to learn on-the-job and enhance skills as required to meet changing job conditions.
  • Ability to work in a fluid environment that changes frequently and can be crisis driven.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism when conducting business and while interacting with co-workers, faculty, staff, and students.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide general troubleshooting for end-users on Macintosh, Windows, and Chrome OS clients.
  • Communicate effectively to support existing infrastructure, ongoing projects, and client service.
  • Manage incidents via help ticket system.
  • Assist in the development and presentation of training resources for teachers, support staff, and administrators.
  • Installation of hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Maintenance and repair of Macintosh and Windows desktop, laptop, Chromebooks and mobile devices and associated hardware.
  • Support for Middle School and HIgh School 1:1 Chromebook Program and/or elementary 1:1 iPad Carts.
  • Provide documentation and record keeping of assigned work and projects.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of district technology equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work from ladders and man-lifts to access ceiling mounted equipment and cabling.
  • Follow all procedures to ensure safe working environments.
  • Work with other staff members to identify and respond to client needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
