JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for the facilitation of freight movement through the supply chain across all modes of transportation (LTL, FTL, intermodal and small parcel). The candidate will provide transportation expertise yielding in shipment execution which will including quoting, tendering and load planning for North American freight. Key responsibilities for this role include carrier and 3PL coordination, maintenance of key performance indicators, execution of continuous improvement workstreams that enhance service and generate savings. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Facilitate freight movements through the supply chain to support the company’s internal production and the fulfillment of customer order demand.

  • Execute reverse logistics processes including but not limited to; claims, returns and delivery receipt retrieval to ensure execution in a timely manner

  • Communicate with internal and external partners on carrier selection, routing and management to ensure proper execution of transportation goals

  • Determine appropriate delivery methods that balance service and cost expectations

  • Provide problem resolution for internal and external business partners

  • Responsible for the performance of key metrics which include but are not limited to on time delivery, on time shipment and various cost components. 

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams with a focus on process improvement relative to on-time delivery performance, cost reduction and continuous improvement.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with transportation providers that will foster long-term carrier strategies to position Jack Link’s as a Shipper of Choice

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business or equivalent work experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods industry

  • Strong working knowledge of various TMS (Transportation Management Systems)

  • Strong working knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.  SAP is preferred.   

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a plant/office setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet/slippery floors. However, the vast amount of work is conducted in a climate-controlled office. Travel may be required.
