Job Title: Senior Accounting Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accounting Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for responding to inquiries from carriers and customers, processing various types of invoices, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial audits and reports. This role demands a thorough understanding of accounting processes and a commitment to accuracy.
Responsibilities
Respond to inquiries from carriers regarding payments.
Respond to inquiries from customers regarding account questions.
Process (non-carrier) AP invoices.
Reconcile and post carrier payment batches to AP sub ledger.
Reconcile and create carrier AP check/EFT batches.
Process checks and/or EFT payments to vendors.
Process monthly credit card invoices.
Process IRS levies.
Provide periodic reporting of financial data, as requested.
Assist with year-end 1099 reporting.
Assist with bank/financial audits as requested.
Process expense reports for employees.
Post daily EFTs and lockbox deposits.
Reconcile and post AR and AP batches; ensure sub-ledger and general ledger reconcile.
Create and send balance due for short paid invoices.
Assist with monitoring client credit limits.
Contact clients regarding past due accounts.
Ensure revenue and expense transactions are recognized based on revenue recognition policy and GAAP.
Assist in balance sheet reconciliation.
Assist in P&L variance explanation.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
Proficient in accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, reconciliation, balance sheet, general ledger, and GAAP.
Intermediate knowledge of accounting processes (AR, AP) and payroll.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word) and 10-key.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate's degree (A.A) or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school; or 2 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
