PURPOSE OF THE POSITION : The Curriculum Facilitator will plan, deliver, and monitor effectiveness of professional development and curriculum implementation, and guide and support Instructional Coaches and Model Teachers.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities :

  1. Knowledge of Iowa Core Curriculum and other curricular areas.

  2. Knowledge of Iowa Professional Development Model and adult learning theory.

  3. Effective group facilitation skills.

  4. Knowledge of curriculum, instruction assessment, professional development, and student services (i.e. English Language Learners, special education, at-risk, talented and gifted, etc.).

  5. Ability to develop data-based SMART goals and aligned action plans.

  6. Firm understanding of organizational systems thinking and quality/continual improvement.

  7. Exemplary organizational and communication skills.

  8. Demonstrated capacity for teacher leadership (i.e. UCILT, curriculum committee, technology steering committee, etc.).

    Education :

  9. Earned Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Board of Educational Examiners approved alternative.

    Certification/Licensure :

  10. Valid Iowa teaching license.

  11. Minimum of three years teaching experience with most recent year in Urbandale Community School District.

    Preferred Qualifications :

  12. Masters degree with an emphasis in curriculum, instruction, assessment, or educational leadership.

    Equipment :

  13. Office equipment such as cell phone, multi-line phone system, fax machines, copiers, and computers.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

    The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  14. Plan, deliver, and monitor the effectiveness of professional development for teachers.

  15. Plan, deliver, and monitor the effectiveness of professional development for initial license teachers.

  16. Guide and support administrators, instructional coaches, and model teachers with professional development initiatives and implementation plans in buildings.

  17. Guide the development, adoption, and implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

  18. Engage in professional learning at the district, building, and classroom levels to ensure high-yield instructional strategies are consistently implemented in all classrooms.

  19. Coordinate communication with multiple stakeholder groups including administrators, instructional coaches, teachers, students, and families.

  20. Ensure alignment of written, enacted, and assessed curriculum within and across grade levels.

  21. Lead unit design and assessment writing with teacher groups.

  22. Participate in professional learning community meetings and data days at the building level.

  23. Evaluate data/current reality of district initiatives and implementation efforts.

  24. Participate in strategic improvement planning efforts including the evaluation of data, setting SMART goals, and designing action plans to achieve goals.

  25. Provide guidance, feedback and support for instructional coaches and model teachers through:

    a. On-going, data-driven professional development.

    b. Reflective, coaching conversations in the context of the Iowa Professional Development Model (IPDM).

    c. Classroom walk through visits and observations.

  26. Oversee the progress of the UCSD strategic plan to ensure Q/CI principles are consistently employed.

  27. Support RTI/MTSS efforts at the district and building levels through collaboration with administrators and instructional coaches around effective strategies to address the multiple and diverse needs of all learners.

  28. Ensure effective and clear communication between building administration, instructional coaches, and district staff.

  29. Attend monthly UCILT meetings and SIAC meetings four times per year.

  30. Attend school board meetings as requested.

  31. Maintain a reliable attendance record.

  32. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • None

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Satisfactory health as certified by a competent medical authority upon hire.

  • Ability to organize and think clearly while communicating, organizing and evaluating.

  • Knowledge of district organizational structure and function, as well as laws, rules and regulations pertaining thereto.

  • Ability to communicate within the structure of the organization as well as the community.

  • Ability to clearly articulate goals and expectations to adults and students.

  • Repetitious bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, hand movement and lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free while working.

  • Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.

    WORKING CONDITIONS :

  • Majority of work is performed in an office or school setting.

  • Occasional meetings outside the school day.

  • Occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, noise, and hazardous materials and emergency situations.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :

  • Per Board Policies and the UEA Master Contract.

  • Performance evaluated per Board Policy and the Professional Growth Assessment Plan.
