Urbandale Community School District Work-Based Learning Facilitator [2024-25 School Year] in Urbandale, Iowa

PURPOSE

Provide personalized learning that supports each student in achieving his or her potential. Engages in professional growth and fulfills professional responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

A. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to provide effective instruction to meet student needs relative to district benchmarks and standards.

  • Knowledge of “best practice” in teaching

  • Knowledge of the developmental characteristics of students at the designated grade level.

  • Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of the Iowa Teaching Standards

  • Knowledge of special education and section 504

  • Knowledge of Federal Rights and Privacy Act and other civil rights regulations

B. Education

  • Earned bachelor’s degree in Education or Board of Educational Examiners approved alternative.

C. Certification/Licensure

  • Iowa Teaching credential/certificate/license, including 5-12 Multi-Occupations Endorsement-305, for 5-12 grade level issued by the BOEE

D. Preferred knowledge, skills, an/or attributes:

+ + Knowledge of Deming’s system of profound knowledge and “quality” principles and practices.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting.

  • Ability to organize and think clearly while communicating, organizing and evaluating.

  • Knowledge of district organizational structure and function, as well as laws, rules and regulations pertaining thereto.

  • Ability to communicate within the structure of the organization as well as the community. Clearly articulate goals and expectations to adults and students.

  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to build relationships effectively and professionally with families, students, and community partners.

  • Experience developing and implementing work-based learning curriculum.

  • Knowledge of best practices in career exploration, awareness, preparation, and training.

  • Physical ability to handle frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and moving throughout the room.

  • Proven ability to maintain a safe classroom environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum.

  • Ability to collaborate within the school and instructional setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates effective implementation of the eight Iowa Teaching Standards and 42 criteria

  • Implements 'quality' principles and tools to create student-centered learning environments and improve overall quality and meaningfulness of learning opportunities.

  • Meets professional responsibilities as outlined in the Professional Growth Assessment Plan, Employee Handbook, and Board policy.

  • Develops, with supervisor, a plan for professional growth.

  • Maintain a reliable attendance record.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
