SUMMARY

This position is responsible for leading the Patient Financial Services (PFS) and collection staff in their efforts with patient counseling and account follow up with both patients and third parties. This person must have expertise in patient financial management, experience with Epic systems, and a thorough understanding of the unique financial challenges in rural healthcare environments. Strong leadership skills are essential to oversee and enhance our financial operations in a rural health and critical access setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the patient financial services team, ensuring efficient and accurate billing, collections, and financial operations.

  • Analyze financial data used in reimbursement reports to determine accuracy and consistency from year to year and the effect on the facility’s reimbursements.

  • Using claims editing software, analyze reported claims submission errors, investigates problem sources, designs procedural improvements and provides education to related staff.

  • Investigates and analyzes complex patient and payer inquiries and complaints regarding reimbursement issues.

  • Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures in compliance with federal and state regulations.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced degree or additional related supervisory experience required.

  • Three to five years of progressive experience in a medical business office, accounting department, or third-party payer office.

  • Prior Epic ERM experience, preferred.
