Job Title: Skilled Carpenter
Job Description
We are looking for a skilled commercial carpenter to assist the superintendent in their self-perform work on commercial construction job sites. This position requires travel across Iowa and surrounding states. The candidate will drive their own vehicle to the job site either Sunday night or Monday morning, stay in a hotel until Thursday, and then return home that night with a 3-day weekend. Occasionally, you may work Friday morning before returning home. The job includes various duties depending on the project's stage, including concrete work, steel and wood framing, hanging doors, tile and flooring installation, trim carpentry, and setting kitchen and bathroom hardware such as sinks and faucets.
Responsibilities
Assist the superintendent in self-perform work on commercial construction sites.
Travel to job sites across Iowa and surrounding states.
Perform concrete work, steel and wood framing.
Hang doors and install tile and flooring.
Complete trim carpentry and set kitchen and bathroom hardware.
Work with a variety of hand tools including pouches, hammer, tape measure, speed square, and torpedo level.
Essential Skills
Experience in construction, carpentry, and framing.
Ability to install doors, trim work, cabinets, and hardware.
Proficiency with hand tools such as tape measure, hammer, and speed square.
Experience in commercial construction.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with concrete and steel/wood framing.
Capability to handle tile and flooring installation.
Knowledge of trim carpentry and setting kitchen/bathroom hardware.

Work Environment
Work on commercial construction sites with 2-10 people, including subcontractors or fellow employees. The majority of work is in the financial sector, building new or remodeling banks (80%), with additional projects in smaller medical facilities (15%) and miscellaneous commercial work (5%). Work hours are from 7am to 5:30pm, Monday to Thursday, with occasional Friday morning work. The dress code is jeans, a T-shirt or sweatshirt, and work boots (steel or composite toe not required).
