This Position :
This position serves as the lead point of contact for health and safety for all CPM sites located in the United States and Europe. The Director of Safety will be a strategic and collaborative partner with Executive and Operational leadership and a catalyst for promoting both fleet and operational production safety and regulatory compliance. You must understand the needs of employees, customers and the community and will treat all parties with dignity and respect in difficult situations and maintain a positive, service-focused mindset. The position will work to prevent workplace accidents and promote health and safety awareness and education to fellow employees by developing and implementing a global safety and compliance structure. This successful candidate will be responsible for making sure that employees follow health and safety laws and creating policies for a safer work environment.
Primary Responsibilities :
Develop, implement and monitor safety programs for day-to-day production
Take measures to identify potential workplace hazards and improve existing conditions
Conduct accident prevention training and health and safety training
Collect and analyze data for safety and health audits and reports
Coordinate the investigation and corrective actions on workplace accidents
Examine plans for new construction and equipment
Inspect existing work sites
Ensure compliance with the policies and mandates enforced by all countries within the scope of CPM
Communicate openly and often with management, employees, customers, suppliers and the community
Handle worker's compensation claims in the event of a workplace accident
Create a sense of trust within the organization by disseminating accurate information about industry and worldwide issues and concerns
Keep abreast of current safety and health issues and environmental laws and regulations
Promote worker well-being not only in the areas of physical and mental health but also in the workers’ pursuit of full lives and achieving their full potential
Provide feedback to operational leaders on team level safety culture and performance
Ensure compliance with federal and state safety regulations and adherence to good practices.
Clearly identify, communicate, and work with operations teams to resolve issues
Provide visible leadership and guidance to asset leadership, operations, and safety team members
Develop, implement, and maintain onboarding programs and related contractor management processes for safety related training
Demonstrate clear examples of adherence to all company values
Work across team boundaries to communicate/understand impacts to adjacent programs and processes and identify opportunities for common solutions
Responsible of the wellbeing, health and safety of employees creating a continuous improvement safety culture
Responsible for recommending environmental targets and driving achievement of them
Other duties as required
Primary Qualifications:
10 years minimum experience in manufacturing EH&S roles
Bachelor’s degree related to occupational safety and health
Risk management and health and safety management certification
Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and guidelines
Extensive attention to detail to distinguish safety hazards
Ability to provide detailed reports and develop safety procedures
Good understanding of data analysis and risk assessment
Good organizational, leadership and motivational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to recognize when safety conditions need improvement
Ability to prioritize tasks especially when handling an accident or incident
