Trinity Health Health Unit Coordinator - Waterloo - Emergency Department - Full-time in Waterloo, Iowa

Description:

Position Purpose:

Performs clerical duties that support the daily activities of nursing units. Works cooperatively with the nursing staff and other health team members to enhance quality patient care and patient satisfaction.

What you will Do:

  • Acts as receptionist and assists in-patient care delivery when appropriate: Answers telephone calls promptly and politely and answers questions as appropriate.

  • Prepares and maintains patient charts: Maintains enough chart supplies and assembles new patient charts and when appropriate prepares in advance.

  • Schedules treatments, procedures, and tests, and arranges for patient transport.

  • Maintains and distributes unit supplies and materials.

  • Types legal documents, including birth certificates, fetal death certificates, summary sheets and paternity affidavits.

  • Performs admission, discharge, transfer functions in Capacity Management

  • HUC Charge Poster: Compiles ADT listing and charge sheets, etc.

Hours/Schedule:

.9 FTE; 72 hours per pay period; 12-hour shift (6:45am-7:15pm); Will include a weekend and holiday rotation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Medical Secretary, Medical Administrative Secretary, or Medical Assistant degree preferred.

  • Without Medical Secretary, prefer 3 years’ experience in a medical office/hospital setting.

  • High language, intermediate math, intermediate reasoning ability.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Typing with knowledge of medical terminology

  • BLS required if working in ED; Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire if working in ED or Mental Health Unit
