Description:
Provides assistance to self-pay patients. Maintains working knowledge of governmental and community resources and offers alternatives to help the needy. Facilitates application process and transfers. Adheres to Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare’s performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.
Position Purpose:
Provides financial counseling assistance and customer service to patients and families. Prepares and processes legal documents related to the payment process for MercyOne. Adheres to MercyOne’s performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.
What you will Do:
Coordinates and implements the collection process
Negotiates monthly payment agreement with guarantor
Works with patients and families to implement financial assistance program
Prepares, processes and maintains legal documents and litigation accounts.
Adheres to all safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedures
Hours/Schedule:
Monday - Friday
8 am to 4:30
ONSITE (NO REMOTE OPTION)
Minimum Qualifications:
One year post secondary medical office education preferred. With no post-secondary education, minimum of 2 years health related experience.
Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians while performing their job duties. One year post-secondary medical office program.
Intermediate language, intermediate math, intermediate reasoning ability.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in stressful situations.
• Ability to communicate clearly and tactfully in order to interact appropriately with coworkers, physicians, patients and other facility personnel.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with time constraints.
• Ability to prioritize workload and maximize time utilization.
• Ability to read, write and communicate orally.
• Must have high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Shows strong initiative and teamwork by working well with coworkers, management, physicians and others.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
