[The Van G Miller Adult Learning Center is looking for a part-time evening Receptionist to join their team. While working at the Adult Learning Center, you are helping make a meaningful impact on the everyday lives of their students. Students are empowered to get the education and skills they need to thrive at work, school, home and in their community all while earning their high school equivalency diploma or learning the English language.

[The part-time evening Receptionist position is located at the Van G. Miller Adult Learning Center and provides clerical support for a variety of programs, clas[ses, events, activities, and special projects. Additionally, this position provides excellent customer service by phone and in person at the Welcome Desk to students, staff, volunteers, partners, and visitors. Furthermore, the evening receptionist position works primarily with the Adult Education and Literacy programs (i.e., English Language Learning, High School Completion, and Integrated Education and Training).

[Hawkeye's Adult Education and Literacy Program serves adult students who are improving their English Language Proficiency or earning their High School Equivalency Diploma to better themselves as workers, students, parents, citizens, and community members. This position is key to making students feel welcome and get the education and services they need to impact their real lives.

Welcomes students and visitors to the building by greeting them, checking for appointments, and providing directions.

Serves as the buildings information desk.

Answers the main telephone lines, transfers calls, takes messages, schedules appointments, provides information, directs inquiries, and monitors voicemail.

Maintains effective and efficient flow of communication and information through calendars, emails, telephone messages, and records.

Serves a population of adult nontraditional students with varying backgrounds.

Communicates daily with both native and non-native speakers of English in person and on the telephone.

Completes tasks using email, word processing, spreadsheets, and other applications.

Protects students and the college by keeping information confidential.

Assists instructors and administrators with office-related needs.

Assists with AEL Student Registration in person or virtually as needed.

Assists with classroom materials distribution and inventory.
