John Deere Waterloo Works: Tool & Die Maker
As a Tool & Die Maker with John Deere Waterloo Works, you will:
Plan, lay out, and construct a variety of intricate, highly specialized tools, fixtures, jigs, dies, and gauges requiring high quality workmanship, holding extremely close tolerances. Work will be performed in a production environment focused on safety, quality, and teamwork.
Job details are dependent on duties assigned but in general consist of the following:
Support preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime.
Work from tool and product design prints, sketches, or verbal instructions and plan proper sequence of operation to carry job to completion.
Perform lay out work which requires use of advanced mathematical procedures.
Make own setups and devise special attachments for performance of job.
Check and adjust inspection equipment using master gauge blocks.
Repair tools, fixtures, jigs, dies, or gauges.
Use standard toolmaker’s tools, precision measuring instruments, gauge blocks, calipers, protractors, indicators, micrometers, and other various hand and power tools.
Assist and support other team members and work with minimal supervision.
Clean work area and perform other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job.
Work shifts (choice of shift based on seniority).
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have at least one of the following:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)
At least 3 years of manufacturing work experience
Journeyperson’s card in Tool & Die Making or an AAS degree in Tool & Die Making or a related field of study, from a post-secondary educational institutionor at least 2 years of Tool & Die Making experience (or equivalent Military experience and training).
Experience laying out and fabricating parts.
Experience utilizing precision measuring equipment.
Ability to perform manual tasks related to described job duties for duration of work shift; including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
Ability and willingness to work potential overtime (including weekends).
