Terms of employment:194 or 196 days, depending on experience within WCSD

Position Criteria

  • Valid State of Iowa teaching license
  • Previous secondary teaching experience
  • 5-12 English/Language Arts orK-8 English/Language Arts

Performance Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain healthy relationships with students.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, high levels of motivation and enthusiasm when working with middle level learners.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the elements of a Professional Learning Community (PLC) and by able to apply that understanding to a team situation.
  • Understand and apply in professional practice the Waukee Framework for Meeting the Needs of All Students.
  • Understand and experience in using multiple teaching methods: co-teaching, collaborating, whole/small group and individualized instruction.
  • Commit to differentiating instruction for learners.
  • Commit to meeting the needs of diverse learners, including all special populations.
  • Commit to ongoing professional growth and development as described in the Iowa Professional Development Standards and support of the Iowa Teaching Standards as the foundation from which to build that ongoing growth plan.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and ability to implement the MTSS process.
  • Utilize developmentally appropriate assessments for learning.
  • Articulate oral and written communications.
  • Serve and meet the expectations for being a student advisor.
  • Maintain accurate and timely grades and provide measurable and adequate feedback on student work.
  • Participate in secondary-level professional development
