Job Description

The ERP Application Specialist will work closely with end users to provide technical assistance with business processes, reporting and training. In addition, this position is responsible for federal/state regulatory reporting, Web based programming, data security/integrity procedures, SQL database/reporting initiatives and assist with Ellucian ERP projects, upgrades and support.

This position is a full-time Professional Services position (261-day contract).

Starting salary for the position is $45,000.00 annually.

Benefits include medical, dental & vision insurance, $50,000 life insurance, long-term disability, paid sick leave, paid discretionary leave, 15 days vacation per year, paid holiday and spring breaks and participation in IPERS or TIAA retirement plan.

The ERP Application Specialist will abide by the employment contract and relevant policies and guidelines of the Board of Trustees.

Essential Duties Summary

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Direct support of Financial Aid, Human Resources and Business Office as associated with Ellucian ERP .

  • Serve as backup in other areas of Ellucian to support the ERP Application Programmer.

  • Complete project tasks and participate in Project Meetings.

  • Abide by information security framework, policies and procedures.

  • Participate in Professional Development opportunities – both as directed by supervisor and self-initiated.

  • Works closely with team leaders to provide programming/technical support for assigned applications and services.

  • Serve as member of the College’s Reporting and Data Team to prioritize and complete data/reporting requests.

  • Develop and maintain documentation on Ellucian systems, processes and technical issues in order to support end users.

  • Document projects and tasks lists in an organized manner.

  • Maintain a current knowledge of the Ellucian system by developing and following personal training plan.

  • Research, understand and analyze Colleague product resources and compare/contrast features to system requirements.

  • Analyze current and future user requirements, procedures, and problems to develop information system solutions to improve and support end users.

  • Collaborate with ITS Security Team, staff and department leaders to establish/enforce user access controls and database security.

  • Ensure privacy and confidentiality of data and systems in compliance with regulations and institutional policies.

  • Work closely with end-users to implement new processes and procedures, providing options to make informed decisions on steps needed to implement, maintain and establish workflow.

  • Effectively communicate all projects and technical issues to supervisor.

  • Assist in the development and use of departmental documentation standards such as process documentation, test plans, programming conventions and naming standards.

  • Work closely with third party vendors to implement, manage and maintain technical resources.

  • Participate in all technology planning initiatives and represent the Information Technology Services department on selected committees.

  • Collaborate with Vice President of Technology Services, Senior Application Programmer, ERP Application Programmer and Network Manager on assigned projects.

  • Must be able to work on a basis of “available as work demands” in addition to a fixed schedule.

  • Responsible to create, manage and close Help Desk tickets related to Ellucian Colleague system.

  • Responsible to support Help Desk functions/troubleshooting.

  • Commitment to the comprehensive community college philosophy.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree required.

  • Associate Degree in Information Technology field preferred.

  • Experience working with relational databases, specifically Microsoft SQL databases required.

  • Experience with reporting tools. SQL Reporting Services experience preferred.

  • Experience in providing programming/technical support for Enterprise Resource Planning ( ERP ) system. Ellucian ERP experience preferred.

  • Experience with project management frameworks and procedures preferred.

  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems.

  • Knowledge of Python, Java Script, CSS , HTML , XML , Web Services, ASPX .Net, C#, PowerShell.

  • Computer literate, including ability to use Microsoft programs, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and ACCESS required.

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in higher education/community college preferred.

  • Ability to work with confidential information for business related purposes required.

  • Ability to apply critical thinking, time management and detailed organizational skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).

  • Ability to collaborate successfully with staff, vendors and government employees.

  • Ability to identify trends and implement technology that best meet the needs of SCC .

  • Ability to develop and pursue professional development opportunities to keep skills current.

  • Ability to present/train end users in best practices for ERP , security, reporting, etc.

  • Skills in designing training manuals and tutorials.

  • Ability to provide quality customer service support to end users, students and College partners.

    Physical Demands

The ERP Application Specialist must have the ability and mobility to service both campuses; ability to travel to other areas and throughout the college district as needed. Must be able to work on a basis of “available as work demands” in addition to a fixed schedule, which will include evenings and weekends. In addition, the individual in this position will actively promote a positive image for the college district.
