Schedule: Day shift

Job Description:

Work under the supervision and direction of an ophthalmologist to perform ophthalmic clinical duties. Take medical histories, administer eye medications, instruct the patient in care and use of corrective lenses, perform all the ophthalmologic tests necessary for preliminary and highly specific eye exams, assist with ophthalmic procedures and maintain ophthalmic and surgical instruments, as well as office equipment. Serves as a resource person providing education and instruction to other ophthalmic support staff.

Qualifications:

High school graduate

Prefer two year college degree

Graduate of a formal ophthalmic training program preferred

Successful completion of the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) exam within 18 months of eligibility

Ophthalmic experience preferred

Previous experience in a physician office clinic preferred

Basic Cardiac Life Support required. Upon hire, must be completed within 60 days.

Dependent Adult Abuse & Child Abuse required. Upon hire, must be completed within 180 days.

Maintains current and active status on all required training and education as outlined by corporate policy.
