Purpose:

The Insurance Operations Accountant role provides daily support and administration of the organizations accounting functions as well as performs accounting tasks such as reconciliations, journal entries, data analysis and financial reporting. Insurance Operations Accountants play an integral role, ensuring accounting controls are in place for operational activity.

Accountabilities:

  • Conducts review of suspense activity and policy accounting, identifying discrepancies and taking vital steps to resolve in a timely manner.

  • Prepares ledger account reconciliations, manual accounting journal entries, conducts reconciliation review and certification approver duties.

  • Serves as a content or technical resource and possesses key business understanding across other business divisions.

  • Assists in project initiatives or is assigned to lead specific projects or tasks.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required; or an equivalent combination of education and applicable experience required. Military experience will be considered in lieu of formal degree.

  • 3+ years of professional experience in financial services field, with minimum of 1+ years of applicable professional accounting experience required.

  • Policy accounting and monthly reconciliation experience preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to influence others and communicate across all areas of the Company.

  • Ability to apply independent judgment to make decisions, prioritize, and work effectively on multiple initiatives concurrently.
