Job Description

The Civil Design Engineer will primarily be responsible for preparing plan sets, including drafting, designing, and storm water management for various projects. This role involves regular attendance at client meetings and the development of project designs and construction documents in Civil 3D. The candidate will also coordinate construction site inspections and observations, and oversee all aspects of design and development for commercial and residential site designs, athletic facility improvements, and other civil-related projects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare plan sets including drafting, designing, and storm water management for various projects.

  • Regularly attend client meetings.

  • Develop project designs and construction documents in Civil 3D.

  • Coordinate construction site inspections and observations.

  • Oversee all aspects of design and development for commercial and residential site designs, athletic facility improvements, and other civil-related projects.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in Civil Engineering.

  • Experience with Civil 3D and AutoCAD.

  • Project Management skills.

  • Knowledge of commercial design, land development, storm water, and site development.

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering.

  • EIT certification or ability to pursue certification.

  • 1-4 years of consulting experience.

  • 3+ years of experience with AutoCAD & Civil 3D (schooling counts).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Aspirations to take on a project manager role within 3-5 years.

  • Ability to coordinate with other engineering disciplines simultaneously.

Work Environment

The position is based in a satellite office located in West Des Moines, with several offices throughout the Midwest. The candidate will work directly with the owner and share an open office room. The work environment is very quiet with little supervision, making self-starters with good communication skills essential. Occasionally, the candidate will assist with projects from other offices. The company has around 85-100 employees in the MN offices and aims to grow the IA office to 8-10 employees in the next couple of years. The company is nationally recognized from their MN branch and is looking to grow its IA office. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00
