Essential Key J ob Responsibilities

  • Acts as liaison between Heart Rhythm Center Staff and Clinical Services regarding cardiac rhythm monitoring and CIED monitoring

  • ​Applies external cardiac rhythm monitoring equipment

  • ​Assists in establishing new CIED patients’ to practice for follow-up; gathers information of previous follow-up, obtains release of information as needed, initiates and accepts transfer of remote services, monitors hospital procedure schedule for new CIED implants and/or revisions

  • ​Communicates with patients verbally and in written/typed format

  • ​Communicates with Heart Rhythm Center’s vendors/manufacturing representatives; cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) and external monitoring device industry representatives for technical and patient assistance as needed, wearable defibrillator representative for need for fitting adjustments

  • ​Completes billing as needed

  • ​Documents in patients’ charts; progress notes as appropriate in the EMR, patient symptoms, PDF documents of recordedrhythm strips and/or summary data, & routes reports to the appropriate provider for interpretation

  • ​Educates patients; on monitoring of heart rhythms and use of external cardiac monitors, on post CIED implant activity restrictions, follow-up care, and remote monitor use

  • ​Educates staff within and outside of Iowa Heart Center; on monitoring procedures and protocols, monitor functionalityand follow-up

  • ​Enters detailed data in computer and maintains EMR and device database; manufacturer representative evaluations ,discrete datautilized for device tracking with FDA and identification for safety advisories/recalls

  • ​Maintains CIED remote websites; updates new hardware and demographic data, processes deaths and transfers of care, follows up on missed remote transmissions and disconnected monitors

  • ​Maintains, tracks supplies and equipment; assures appropriate charging and software update of equipment used for universal interrogation of CIEDs

  • ​Makes general interpretation of arrhythmias; identifies adverse arrhythmias and informs a Heart Rhythm Center nurse, Advanced Heart Failure or provider as needed

  • ​Navigates to the Heart Rhythm Center’s secured external websites for enrollment of services, appointment scheduling, equipment ordering, report collection, and/or updating patient information.

  • ​Notifies a Heart Rhythm Center nurse of significant patient complaints

  • ​Orders supplies for cardiac arrhythmia and/or device monitoring

  • ​Performs device interrogations using remote monitors and CIED manufacturer specific universal interrogators; one week post implant, per provider add-on orders, and to reset specific alerts within the CIED

  • ​Schedules patients for follow-up and testing; within Practice Manager and in various CIED vendor remote sites

  • ​Troubleshoots monitor performance, arranges for monitor replacement or sends for repair as needed.

​​High school diploma preferred or high school equivalency.

​​

Required Licensure and Certifications

  • ​​Basic Life Support (BLS) for the healthcare provider; certified or obtained by the end of the orientation period (approximately within6 weeks of hire).Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

  • ​Takes Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) -Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician(CRAT) Exam within 18 months of hire

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • ​​Basic computer/keyboard skills required

  • ​Cardiac medical terminology class within six (6) months of hire

  • ​Level I Cardiac Arrhythmia within 6 months of hire. Test out or repeat with passing score every two (2) years

  • ​Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire

PREFERRED Qualifications

​​EKG, cardiac arrhythmia training and/or telemetry monitoring experience preferred.
