Provide patients in clinic with exceptional orthopaedic care as a Orthopaedic Patient Technician at Des Moines Orthopaedic Surgeons, P.C. Whether you are an individual wanting to develop your career in a medical office setting or wanting to gain experience in a medical office setting prior to a higher educational degree. On the job training is provided to learn how to properly cast, splint and other necessary patient care techniques related to orthopaedic care. This full-time opportunity is primarily located at our West Des Moines office. Clinical hours to meet our patients needs.

Do I want this job? You will room patients, gather and enter information quickly and accurately into an electronic medical record. You may need to respond to physician support requests quickly to assist with patient care. Be understanding that our patients are hurting and may not always be super pleasant, however, they are very grateful. You will work in a place that expects outstanding experiences; we do this by working hard to assume the best and being curious with all around us. You will be naturally curious, friendly and helpful. You can work the hours for this position, because, ultimately, we are all here to help patients.
Can I do this job? You must be able to be on your feet for periods of time that may seem unnatural. You may have to assist a patient with transfer. You will assist with suture and staple removal. You will be trained in orthopedic casting, splinting and DME fitting. You have great communication skills to meet the needs of patients and staff. You have great typing and computer skills. You can think on your feet. You have to be able to use your indoor voice and use confidential information for patient care only. Patient information that gets shared in clinic, stays in clinic.
What does an outstanding tech have in terms of background? Successful candidates in clinic may have had prior experience in a medical facility. A degree/certificate in the medical field is helpful but not necessary to the role. If you are looking to get experience or are building your career as a NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer, Medical Assistant, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy Tech, Physician, or comparable professional medical certifications, you are encouraged to apply. Training provided to for necessary skills required for position.
