Job Description:
Job Title: Food Service Cashier/Clerk
Department: The Ron Pearson Center
FLSA: Non-Exempt
General Function:
Provides outstanding service to all guests of the building. Responsible for anticipating the needs of guests and responding politely to their requests. Operates a cash register and duties which correspond. Replenishes product as needed. Ensures the food service area meets established cleanliness standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Proactively provides prompt and friendly customer service by exhibiting manners, care, respect, and patience in all interactions.
Works with coworkers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Operates cash register accurately, reporting any improper cash levels
Counts register till before and after the shift.
Keeps register area clean, ensuring adequate supplies are ready and available
Completes credit / debit card transactions.
Ensures the café service and seating areas are clean and orderly at all times.
Stocks consumable items in the café and seating area.
Washes dishes and puts them away in proper area.
Scrubs and hand washes all items unable to go through dishwasher.
Keeps dish area clean, organized and sanitary.
Ensures all chemicals are filled and containers are properly disposed of when empty.
Performs routine cleaning and maintenance procedures involving care of dishwasher.
Performs general cleaning of other kitchen department equipment including but not limited to warming carts, plate carts, floors, kitchen halls and service carts.
Reports to work on time when scheduled.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in the kitchen and The Ron Pearson Center as needed.
Stocks vending machine.
Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:
Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Must be able to carry out detailed instructions.
Must have strong communication abilities.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform medium work: lifting no more than 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects of no more than 25 pounds.
Visual requirements include vision of less than 20 inches and over 20 feet with or without correction.
Must be able to perform the following physical activities: bend, kneel, stand, stoop, reach, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, and repetitive motions.
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
Working Conditions:
This position is based in cafeteria setting. Frequent exposure to temperature extremes and possible dampness. Exposure to chemicals and solvents. Frequent cash handling.
Equipment Used to Perform Job:
Cash register, calculator, copier and cleaning chemicals. Industrial dishwasher, scrubbing brushes (pads), garbage disposal, knives, mop, broom, trash compactor, box cutter, box crusher. Other standard tools and equipment used in a kitchen environment may include: slicers, Hobart machine, grill, fryer, ovens, rotisserie, label maker and company vehicle.
